MTV Splitsvilla is an Indian television reality show that airs on MTV India. The show is presented by Rannvijay Singha and Sunny Leone. The first premiere of Splitsvilla X on July 23, 2017 followed by every weekend on Sunday. The show is also available on Voot.
The series is loosely based on the American dating reality show Flavor of Love.

Summary
The reality show revolves around young boys and girls trying to secure a place in "Splitsvilla", a villa. It is a "hunt for love" show where boys and girls compete in tasks to stay in the competition and mingle with the contestants to find love. In the end, one boy and one girl are crowned the winners of Splitsvilla, as a couple. There are a lot of fights, jealousy, hatred, friendship, backstabbing, and love when all these wild contestants get together. There are also a King and Queen who have dumping powers.

Vishal Karwal - He was seen participating Season 1 (2008) went on to do many hit TV soaps. His popular show was Rangrasiya which starred Sanaya Irani and also was a contestant in Bigg Boss 6.
Sakshi Pradhan - She was seen participating in Season 2 (2009) later was participating in Bigg Boss 4.
Nalini Negi - She was seen participating in Season 2 (2009) was later known for her role in Naamkarann.

Season 1
The season was hosted by VJ Rannvijay Singha, of MTV Roadies Season 1. In this season, two boys, Varun Saini, a former participant of MTV Roadies 5 and Vishal Karwal, of MTV Roadies 4, find their ultimate girl of their dreams by choosing from 20 girls by putting them through grueling tests. The girls battle stress, politics, exhaustion, fear, bitchiness and other such emotional challenges to be the chosen one and avoid humiliation of getting dumped. The girl who is dumped leaves the show. In this manner, a winner is selected.

Of the final three (Shraddha, Heena and Prianca), Shraddha emerged as the winner and became the queen of Splitsvilla. Shraddha then goes on to choose Vishal. However, the decision wasn't finally Shraddha's. Vishal, the champion was challenged by Varun, the challenger. They had to fight over three contests; the winner of two out of the three was to be declared the ultimate winner. Vishal came out a clear winner by winning the first two in which the first victory saw Vishal beating Varun in Varun's territory.
Winners Shraddha and Vishal got to host a weekly show on MTV India, MTV Couplesutra,s a 10-minute show in which they discuss one "reel-life" couple, one real-life couple and one break-up. Prianca joined an acting school in Mumbai. Bianca and Simran appeared in Bechaare Zameen Par (a take on the Bollywood film Taare Zameen Par which was aired on MTV). Vishal played the male lead in the show Rishtonse Badi Pratha, which aired on Colors TV and was also seen in Bigg Boss 6. He played the main antagonist in Sanaya Irani's Rangrasiya.
Season 2
Season 2 of Splitsvilla had ten boys and ten girls, selected from auditions. This season was hosted by MTV India VJ Nikhil Chinappa.
Season 3
The winning couple of Season 3 wins Rs. 5 lakh and a chance to be a VJ on MTV. Season 3 had 10 singles (5 boys and 5 girls) and 5 unmarried couples. The show is hosted by VJ's Nikhil Chinapa and Deepti Gujral. The game has gone international for the first time in Splitsvilla history. It is aired on every Saturday at 7:00 p.m on MTV. The King and Queen are challenged every week. The king and queen stay in the villa this year but in special chambers known as the 'King and the Queen chambers'.

Season 4
The Season 4 of Splitsvilla had 4 boys and 13 girls selected from auditions. The first episode of the show was aired on 3 December 2010. This season was hosted by MTV India VJ Nikhil Chinapa.
Format The girls were divided into 4 groups(Qabilah) which were headed by each boy.
FINALE
A roulette game based on luck was played between the three pairs of finalists: Manish and Pooja, Sai and Tina, and Dushyant and Priya. This first task was won by Sai and Tina who went directly to the finals. The second task was between Manish-Pooja and Dushyant-Priya on who would join Sai-Tina for the final task. The final task was an obstacle task and was won by Dushyant-Priya who next joined Sai-Tina in the final face-off. The final task was won by Dushyant-Priya, and hence were declared the winners of Splitsvilla 4.
Season 5
The season began at the beginning of April, with 9 girls and 9 boys. Contrary to the last two seasons, this season had been set in Uttarakhand, India. The villa is located somewhere outside the Jim Corbett National Park. Up till now, all tasks had been set in the national park. The season was hosted by Nikhil Chinapa. The season finale was aired on 24 June 2012 on MTV India. The final competition to win Splitsvilla 5 title was fought between Vroon and Jasmine as a couple and Paras and Akanksha as the other. Paras and Akanksha went on to win the title of Splitsvilla 5- Love Gone Wild.
Season 6
This season was premiered on 25 May and was hosted by Sherlyn Chopra and Nikhil Chinappa. It is tagged as "Hot as Hell". There were 9 males and 9 females in Splitsvilla 6. This season also had a review show for each episode titled "Sexy Sana" hosted by Sana Saeed. This season featured few true love couples like 'Subuhi and Gaurav', 'Purvee and Nawab', and 'Shatakshi and Prabhjot'. Nawab was called the chicken legs and Purvee was awarded the title 'master mind of splitsvilla'.
Season 7
Season 7 started in June, 2014 and ended on 25 October 2014. Mayank Gandhi and Scarlett rose won this season. The show was hosted by Sunny Leone and Nikhil Chinappa.
There were 7 males and 20 females. This season's set was Samode Palace, situated in Jaipur, India. In this season, the audience got to see old splitsvilla contestants like - Ashwini Koul and Rishabh Sinha. Ashwini chose to quit the game after his lady love Sanjana decides to leave the show due to an injury sustained during a task. Rishabh was banished by queen Khushi. There were 2 kings and 2 queens in this season. King - Shravan Reddy and Abhishek Malik. Queen - Khusi Bhat and Dana Vana. This season of splitsvilla was amongst the most popular seasons as there was love triangle, emmosity, hatred. Just like a fairy tale.There were 2 female (dana vana and ranji) and one male (Yazir Khan) wildcard entry through MTV Battleground. There were lots of love couples in this season than in the rest of the season like 'Rashi and Mayank gandhi', 'Ayaz and Priyanka', 'Khushi and Abhishek', 'Ashwini and sanjana'. Mayank pawar also titled as 'Mr.Asia' was also seen participating in the show. His elimination brought tears in sunny leone's eyes. and dumping of Rashi Sharma (when Mayank gandhi ties the protection thread around her hand) and Ayaz Ahmed (when he proposes to Priyanka) brought tears in everyone's eyes. Scarlett Rose and Mayank Gandhi Later won the show competing against Abhishek and Khushi. This season also featured a brother-sister relation between Abhishek and Scarlett, where abhishek felt so bad when his love (Khushi) had to fight against his sister (Scarlett) in the finale.There was a situation in which one of the contestant Shravan throws some thing on Sunny leone out of anger on the other splitsvillans.
Season 8
Season 8 was hosted by Rannvijay Singha from MTV Roadies and Sunny Leone. Nikhil Chinapa was replaced by Rannvijay Singha. Karan Kundra too appeared on the show to host a couple of segments. This season saw the presence of 14 girls and 8 boys from the auditions, and 8 celebrity boys. Subuhi Joshi from Splitsvilla 6 re-entered the show as a queen. The season's theme was "What Women Love". The season was talked about due to two contestants Karishma and Gaurav being confident and indicating that they had bisexual tones. The season also featured couples like 'Sana and Utkarsh' that seemingly displayed a real connection. The non-celebrity boys were dumped within 2-3 days of their existence and shortly, so were girls who had connections with them. Gaurav had to quit due to illness. After the initial dumpings, we can see that even the celebrity boys started infighting and the whole villa was against Karishma and Zaan.
Tbe primary rule of the show is that those who are already in a relationship outside the villa are not permitted to participate. Since two contestants Ish and Viren broke this rule, they were eliminated.
Season 9
Season 9 was hosted by Rannvijay Singha from MTV Roadies and Sunny Leone. The show telecasted its first trailer On May 15, 2016 and preimered its first episode on June 11, 2016. This season had 15 celebrity boys and 6 girls with the theme "Where Women Rule" on the show. There was no King until the final competition and the boys were not given the power to dump a girl. 3 Princesses and 2 warriors later joined as wild card entries. During the course of the show, a number of couples emerged with a seemingly genuine connection such as 'Kavya and Gurmeet', 'Rajnandini and Archie', 'Varun and Martina' , and 'ShreeRadhe and Karan'. Martina was the first queen (The fiery queen), followed by Rajnandini (The evil queen) and then Kavya (The bold queen). Fights and arguments erupted between Martina and Rajnandini, Ayaan and Nikhil, Kavya and Rajnandini, Isha and Mayuri, Karan Chabra and Nikhil, and Mayuri and Karan Khanna. There even appeared to be a love triangle between Shree Radhe, Karan Khanna and Karan Chabra. This Season had its Finale on October 8, 2016 and was won by Gurmeet Singh Rehal and Kavya Khurana.
Season 10
MTV Spiltvilla Season 10 started on 23 July 2017. It is hosted by Sunny Leone and Rannvijay Singha. The show comprises 10 boys (now 11) and 10 girls who came to find true love. The theme of this season is Experiment of love, i.e. experimenting and testing whether science can really find love or it's just the heart that finds. The show took place amidst the stunning surroundings of Jim Corbett National Park. MTV Splitsvilla Season 10 is the second season to appear on Voot, Viacom18's advertising-led video-on-demand platform, while the season airs. The season ended on 10 December 2017 declaring Baseer Ali & Naina Singh as the winners.

Controversies after Splitsvilla 2
Sexual exploitation
A month after the second season of Splitsvilla ended, some of the contestants claimed that the show's crew members had engaged in sexual acts with other contestants.
Swaagata G Shah, a contestant from Season 2, claimed in a tabloid that there were exchanges of sexual favors between contestants and important people of the production team, to get undue advantages in the contest. Later, contestants Varun Jhamb and Nalini Negi who had been eliminated early on in the show, alleged that 'some crew members, including the director, had slept in the same room as top contender Joanna Magee, and others engaged in sexual favours, especially towards the end.'
In response, Rajiv Laxman (creative director of the show) said: 'I firmly disagree with these allegations. We have strict rules that prevent the mingling of the crew with the cast. Swagata was the first contestant to be eliminated and didn't even spend a night at the villa. She doesn't have any linking of the way things work there.'
Racial slur
One of the contestants on the show Mohit has been accused of using a racial slur after he called Siddharth Bhardwaj, a "Nepali with 'chinky' eyes". This caused obvious discomfort to India's North East Community, many of whom have oriental facial features. Though the show is unscripted, the network and the sponsors have been accused of supporting such racial slurs by not bleeping the content after they decided to air it.
Another such incident took place in the fourth season, when Aakriti had a verbal fight with Payal. The racial slur that was used was beeped out and later Nikhil Chinappa at the dumping ground raised the issue telling Aakriti not to "advertise her ignorance anymore" and that serious actions will be taken if it happens hereafter.
